Day 22 – Astorga to Rabanal del Camino
The trouble with sleeping in a big dorm (20 other pilgrims)
like last night, is that if you go to bed early, someone will always come in
and put the light on and start talking as if they were the only ones there. I
have found that the best way to deal with it, is to just try and block it out
and not let it wind me up.
I slept quite well after the lights went off. I think I must
be getting used to it! When I get up early, I still try and be as quiet as
possible and get out as quickly as possible too.
Todays walk was relatively short at 20km and the terrain is much more variable and enjoyable. Having said that, I was surprisingly tired when I reached the albergue at 11am. I rested the afternoon and made some future reservations, as others have said it's going to be difficult to get into accomodation as we get near to Santiago.
They had lit the wood burning stove and
put the heating on, which I was grateful for. I think this is another indication
of the changing season. I’m so pleased I packed my hat and gloves!

Who is the statue at the albergue?
ReplyDeleteThat church is so cute
I think it's Saint James (Santiago)
DeleteThat church is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI spent a few months in Santiago as part of my degree and generally found the churches too ornate. Simpler ones like this are so much more appealing!
DeleteYes Shirley, my feelings too.
