Day 9 - Navarrete to Azofra

I woke up feeling a lot better today. I packed my things and went down to a self service breakfast of tea and toast, a carton of orange juice and a cake (same cake as I bought in the supermarket at Viana). I made the tea in a large collapsible cup I bought with me (3 tea bags), put the toast in my pocket and headed out the door.

It was a beautiful night with the stars filling the sky. I watch the dawn come up again which lifted my spirits. I know that the light at the beginning and end of the day is prefered by photographers and I could really see why now. There seems to be a clarity to it and the shadows that it creates, really give a perspective to the countryside.

As is my way, I kept walking all morning without stopping, except to sample a few of the farmers grapes and apples to supplement the toast and sugary cake.

I made it to the albergue by 11:30 only to find they don’t open until 2pm. I went off to find a quiet spot and eat yesterday’s half a baguette with cheese and ham.

When the albergue opened, I was surprised to find I had a small room to myself. They are made for two but due to Coronus regulations they are running at half capacity.

Tomorrow is forecast rain all day, so there should be lots of practice of putting my poncho on!
